A United Methodist Congregation

Melting Pot

The Melting Pot Ministries Team of Munsey seeks to serve the physical and spiritual needs of the downtown community in the spirit of shalom – and there is not a more beautifully diverse place within Munsey than the Melting Pot! Folk come together in this special space to find the warmth of fresh coffee as well as that of acceptance. All are welcome as children of God.

The Melting Pot’s original outreach was to residents of the John Sevier Center across the street following the Christmas Eve fire of 1989, and its outreach is now nearly 365 days broad. The ministries include:
  • Open Door Worship – an eclectic congregation and an intimate worship experience, joyful and authentic;
  • Our Daily Bread – a weekday joint ministry between Munsey and Good Samaritan Ministries which coordinates 25 other churches to prepare and serve lunches;
  • Shepherd’s Breakfast – the place to be on Saturday mornings for sausage and eggs, biscuits and gravy, as well as a newspaper and plenty of fellowship;
  • Fellowship activities – for the purpose of interaction and just plain ol’ fun. Bingo is the most popular, but movies and picnics are hits as well.

If you want to bless and be blessed, please contact Patty Muse, Co-Director of Outreach, at 461-8070, x243, or pattymuse@munsey.org.
