there's a place for you at Munsey
|
Too often we think of the church as an organization or an institution. But the church is a community of faith that provides a rich resource of ministries. Every day, 365 days a year, Munsey Memorial UMC ministers in countless ways to members of our church family, our community, and our world.
In a couple of weeks, every church family will receive a copy of our church’s Budget of Ministries. You will be impressed at the scope of ministries your church is providing. The annual budget is not about bricks and mortar, utilities nor salaries. Rather, the Budget of Ministries is about touching lives for the cause of Christ. Therefore, our stewardship emphasis for the next year will be built around our Budget of Ministries. There will be three Cycles of Discipleship in 2012, with each cycle consisting of four months.
Our Cycles of Discipleship stewardship campaign will begin on September 11th and continue for four special Sundays. We will look back and celebrate our heritage, then look forward at our vision for ministry here at Munsey. We will be challenged to find a place of service and on October 2, Discipleship Sunday, we will have the opportunity to make our Discipleship Promise for the first Discipleship Cycle. During these four special Sundays, you will have the opportunity to make a commitment of your time and abilities, as well as your financial resources.
At the beginning of the second and third Cycles of Discipleship in 2012, we will be given the opportunity to reevaluate and renew our discipleship promise. No doubt, many will continue with their initial promises. Others, due to major changes in their lives, may decide that it is necessary to revise their promises. These times of reevaluation and renewal will encourage us to commit boldly to our initial discipleship promise, while providing the option to keep our promises current with changes that may occur in our lives.
It is our intention to make stewardship an integral part of our church life, not just something we emphasize once a year. As we move forward with the Cycles of Discipleship program it may no longer be necessary to have an annual stewardship emphasis.
A Place for You Service Booklet will be mailed on September 12, if you would like a more detailed description on all the areas in which you could serve, download the Service Description Book.

In allowing God to cultivate our transformation, may He be glorified and may we bear much fruit!
